Device Processing Terms
eWaste Warriors — powered by RETPAIR | Services provided by RETPAIR LLC | Effective: July 27, 2026 | Incorporated into the Terms of Service
Version: 2026-07-23.v1
1. Scope
These Device Processing Terms govern the handling, processing, and disposition of every device you provide to us by pickup or event drop-off. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings in the Terms of Service.
2. Intake and Chain of Custody
At pickup or drop-off, your order is verified against its order code and tracking tag, and acceptance is timestamped. Devices requiring individual processing are tagged with a unique tracking identifier. We photograph custody transfers to document condition and possession. Every device is treated as containing personal data until our staff positively clears it.
3. Service Selection; Confirmations
You select a service for each eligible device: Repair, Buyback, Data Recovery, Data Wiping/Destruction, or Donation/Recycling. Costs are displayed before you confirm. Destructive services (wiping and destruction) require a second, separate confirmation. You may add notes describing each device and its issues; accurate notes help us serve you.
4. Title; 24-Hour Change Window
Title transfers only after RETPAIR has accepted the selected disposition and the customer has completed all required confirmations under these Terms. In addition, for devices designated Donation/Recycling, you may change your service selection at no charge within twenty-four (24) hours after physical intake by contacting us; disposition does not become final, and title does not transfer, until that window has elapsed. For Buyback devices, title transfers upon payout.
5. Data Wiping
One software-based data wipe is included at no additional charge with eligible donation and recycling services; no certificate is provided for the included wipe. A verified data-wipe certificate is available for the fee disclosed during booking. RETPAIR uses commercially reasonable data sanitization technologies selected by RETPAIR that are designed to perform sanitization consistent with applicable industry standards where available. Your device receives the data sanitization method appropriate for that device and service selection; where applicable, sanitization is performed consistent with recognized industry standards, with the method recorded per device.
Before any wipe or destruction you must confirm: this permanently erases all data on the device, including encrypted or hidden files; erased data cannot be recovered by you, by us, or by anyone else; if you need files, photos, or anything saved, choose Data Recovery first or back up before pickup.
Certificates identify the sanitization method and any applicable industry standard achieved. Certificates include: certificate ID; customer name; device make, model, and serial (or "serial unavailable"); sanitization method and any applicable industry standard achieved; sanitization software name and version; wipe log hash; timestamp (UTC); operator ID; performing entity; and a verification link.
6. Data Destruction; Unwipeable Devices
Physical data destruction is available for the fee disclosed during booking. If a device you designated for wiping cannot be verifiably wiped, it will receive physical data destruction at no additional charge; you consent to this default in advance. For physically destroyed media, destruction itself is the attestation.
7. Data Recovery
Data recovery is inherently uncertain. Recovery cannot be guaranteed, and successful recovery of some files does not mean all files can be recovered. Recovery begins with a diagnostic evaluation and a written estimate range; no recovery work beyond diagnosis is performed until you approve in writing a not-to-exceed amount. If we cannot recover within your authorized amount, you pay only the diagnostic fee.
8. Buyback
A preliminary quote based on your description is a non-binding estimate. Our final offer follows physical inspection. If the final offer is lower than the preliminary quote, you receive an explicit accept-or-decline choice; the offer is never auto-accepted, and declining triggers free return of your device under the Satisfaction Guarantee. Payouts are electronic (currently PayPal or ACH) within five (5) business days of your acceptance. Devices must be free of activation locks before payout.
RETPAIR may refuse or withhold payout, revise or reverse any quote, hold devices pending investigation, and report suspected stolen devices to law enforcement, where RETPAIR reasonably suspects fraud, theft, or misrepresentation. Devices confirmed as reported-stolen may be surrendered to law enforcement without payout.
9. Repair
Repairs begin with a diagnostic evaluation for the fee disclosed during booking, credited toward your repair if you proceed. Repairs carry the 90-day workmanship warranty described in the Terms of Service. Some repairs are performed by vetted local partners under our chain-of-custody procedures.
10. Activation Locks
You must remove account-based activation locks (for example, Find My or Google account locks) from devices submitted for buyback or reuse. We may contact you after intake to complete removal. Devices that cannot be unlocked within the unclaimed-device timeline in the Terms of Service will be treated as recycle/destroy dispositions.
11. Removable Media
Please remove SIM cards, memory cards, and other removable media before handing over your device. RETPAIR may remove and separately process removable media as appropriate under the selected service. If we find removable media, we will notify you; unclaimed removable media may be treated under the unclaimed-device provisions of the Terms of Service, with the applicable time periods running from our notice to you.
12. Hazardous Devices
RETPAIR may refuse, isolate, or safely dispose of devices presenting safety hazards, including damaged lithium-ion batteries, leaking batteries, biohazards, or devices modified in a manner creating unreasonable risk. Where practicable, we will document and notify you before disposal.
13. Digital Data; Unclaimed Devices
The digital-data provisions (Terms of Service Section 18) and the unclaimed-device provisions (Terms of Service Section 15) apply to all processing under these Device Processing Terms.
